FABTECH 2026: Your Complete Guide to Dates, Location, and What to Expect in Las Vegas

FABTECH 2026 covers more than 700,000 square feet of exhibit space and draws over 31,000 attendees to Las Vegas across three days. For a job shop owner or plant manager who has never walked the floor, that scale is disorienting without a plan.

This guide covers the dates, location, what’s new this year, and how to walk in with a plan instead of just a badge, from Polyonics, where we’ll be unveiling new HIGHdegree label solutions at Booth #N10131.

What Is FABTECH?

FABTECH is North America’s largest metal forming, fabricating, welding, and finishing event. It debuted in Cleveland in 1981 with 161 exhibitors and has since grown into the definitive North American gathering for the metal fabricating industry.

The show is produced jointly by five industry associations, which is why its scope is wider than any single-process or single-industry event. Those partners are:

  • American Welding Society (AWS): welding, brazing, soldering, and thermal spraying
  • Fabricators and Manufacturers Association (FMA): metal forming and fabricating
  • SME: broader manufacturing technology and workforce development
  • Precision Metalforming Association (PMA): stamping, roll forming, and precision metalforming
  • Industrial Finishing & Coating Association (IFCA): surface coating and industrial finishing

That five-association partnership is why FABTECH covers the entire metalworking supply chain in one venue, from raw coil handling through welding, finishing, and traceability.

FABTECH 2026 Schedule: What’s New This Year

The 2026 theme is “Innovation Without Limits,” and the program spans three days with more than 180 expert-led sessions and half-day workshops covering metal forming, fabricating, welding, and finishing.

Two additions are worth building your schedule around this year:

  • The AI for Manufacturing (AIM) Pavilion. New for 2026, the AIM Pavilion consolidates AI and advanced digital solutions into a single destination on the show floor. If your shop is evaluating AI-driven vision inspection, predictive maintenance, or MES integrations, this is the fastest way to see options side by side.
  • The FAB Pass. A new premium all-access upgrade that bundles full conference content, daily meal and drink tickets, exclusive merchandise, and other perks. Passes are limited and sold separately from general show floor admission.

For the final session-by-session schedule and any updates, check the official FABTECH expo site at fabtechexpo.com or download the FABTECH mobile app in the weeks leading up to the show.

Who Attends FABTECH (and Why It’s Worth the Trip)

FABTECH is the one event where the entire metal fabrication decision chain shows up in the same three days. The typical attendee mix includes:

  • Job shop owners and operations leaders
  • Plant managers and production supervisors
  • Manufacturing and process engineers
  • Machine operators and technicians
  • Corporate decision-makers evaluating capital equipment
  • Procurement teams sourcing materials, consumables, and tooling

That overlap is what makes FABTECH different from a single-discipline event. The person running the laser cutter demo and the person deciding how their mill tracks material through production are standing in the same hall.

If your shop still relies on hand-marking or is fielding questions from a customer about traceability, this is the show where that conversation is already happening around you.

The Cost of “Good Enough” Marking on the Fab Floor

Most shops don’t rethink how they mark and track material until something forces the issue. A coil goes out mislabeled. A hand-written tag smears or fades before the part reaches the next station. An audit flags missing traceability, or a customer threatens to move the account after receiving the wrong alloy.

At that point, the cost isn’t the label. It’s the relationship and the order that walks with it. A single mislabeled shipment can cost more than years of upgraded labeling combined, before you factor in the audit exposure or the customer you now have to win back.

That’s the moment fabricators start looking seriously at barcode track-and-trace instead of crayons and paint pens. It’s a transition that touches purchasing, production, IT, and quality all at once, which is exactly why the FABTECH show is where those decisions tend to get made. You can talk to the label supplier, the printer vendor, and the MES integrator in the same afternoon.

That transition is also what Polyonics built HIGHdegree for.

What Polyonics Is Bringing to FABTECH 2026

Polyonics will be exhibiting at FABTECH 2026, Booth #N10131, and the show marks our 30th year engineering high-performance label materials for demanding manufacturing environments. We’re a 100% employee-owned New Hampshire manufacturer, which means the people you talk to at the booth have real skin in the game when it comes to solving your traceability problem.

At FABTECH 2026, we’ll be unveiling new additions to our HIGHdegree product family, built specifically for steel, aluminum, fabrication, welding, and industrial manufacturing operations where conventional labels fail under heat, chemicals, or mechanical abuse.

HIGHdegree materials are engineered for:

  • Adhesion and barcode readability through demanding thermal processing, including aluminum homogenization, where standard labels lift, curl, or burn off entirely
  • Resistance to harsh manufacturing chemicals, cleaning solutions, and industrial process fluids that corrode or dissolve conventional label stock
  • Durable coatings that withstand abrasion, handling, and mechanical contact on rough metal surfaces
  • Direct thermal and thermal transfer printing compatibility, so HIGHdegree drops into the printers and MES systems you’re already running
  • Label constructions built for steel mills, aluminum manufacturers, service centers, fabricators, and downstream processors, not generic industrial environments

If your team is still hand-marking coils, billets, or long steel products, and you’ve felt the cost of even one mislabeled shipment, bring that challenge to Booth #N10131. The Polyonics team will be on the floor throughout the show to talk through labeling in extreme environments, including elevated temperatures, homogenization, abrasion, and automated production systems.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of FABTECH 2026

  1. Register early. Admission is free through October 16, 2026. After that, it’s $50, whether online or onsite. There’s no reason to pay for something that’s free five days earlier.
  2. Download the FABTECH mobile app and build your schedule in advance. With 180+ sessions and 40+ technology categories across three halls, walking in without a plan means missing what matters most to your role.
  3. Prioritize pavilions tied to your actual problems, not just what’s new and interesting. The AIM Pavilion is worth a dedicated slot if AI-driven automation is on your roadmap. The Welding, Finishing, and Job Shop pavilions are the workhorses for most attendees.
  4. Bring your specific challenge with you. Whether it’s marking, tracking, welding automation, or coil handling, booth conversations are far more useful when you walk up with a real problem instead of browsing passively.
  5. Map your exhibitor route before the show floor opens. Use the FABTECH expo exhibitor directory on fabtechexpo.com to identify the vendors you actually need to see, then group them by hall so you’re not crisscrossing 700,000 square feet on tired feet.
