New Polyonics HIGHdegree Tag and Label Materials Help Metal Processing Facilities Avoid Costly Expense of Recalls

Polyonics has developed a growing family of materials utilized by the electronics industry.

Westmoreland, NH, January 13, 2021 – Polyonics®, a leader in high temperature and harsh environment label and tag materials, announced today a new line of materials specially engineered to stand up to the punishing demands of metal processing. Polyonics HIGHdegree™ tag and label materials ensure the accurate tracking and identification of hot metals through the manufacturing process, helping factories and foundries avoid the costly expense of product recalls and to implement plant automation.

The HIGHdegree line is rated up to 1,112 °F (600 °C) and labels and tags can be applied directly to or hung from coils, rolls, bars, sheets, rebar, tubes, wire bundles, etc. as th leave their furnaces for accurate inventory control and traceability. The durability and performance of HIGHdegree materials through extreme heat eliminates the risk of mislabeled or incorrectly labeled materials and unreadable barcodes – as well as the costs associated with product recalls and labor associated with manual labelling and tagging.

“For over 25 years, we’ve proudly provided reliable, durable, long-lasting label and tag solutions for identification, tracking and manufacturing, primarily in the electronics and PCB markets. Over the years, we found that our label and tag materials can withstand the punishing demands of metals processing. So, we are making a significant investment in R&D and strategically focusing on innovations for the metals processing market, which represents a significant growth area for us.” said Jim Clemente, President and CEO of Polyonics.

Polyonics HIGHdegree polyimide and aluminum bar code label materials feature unique, non-yellowing polymer or silicone print surfaces suitable for thermal transfer printing. They also feature aggressive, high temperature acrylic or ultra-high temperature silicone pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) so they stay affixed from the furnace through delivery of completed goods to customers.

HIGHdegree tag materials are excellent alternatives to riveted plates, chalk or crayons for tracking hot metals in foundries. They offer high tear resistances so there is no unintended removal during storage or delivery, further ensuring inventory accountability.

Metal processing plants can also make the move to automated systems with the use of HIGHdegree label and tag materials, eliminating the health and safety risks associated with hot metals while delivering the track and trace accuracy their customers demand.
