Industry Needs: Under-the-Hood

Automakers require durable under-the-hood labels to accurately track their products, provide critical safety and operational information and remain firmly affixed for the life of the parts. The labels need to adhere to smooth, textured and sometimes oily surfaces and resist the effects of high temperatures, abrasion and submersion in a myriad of harsh chemicals. In many cases the label must also be auto-applied.

Industry Needs: Interiors

Auto, truck and bus makers require flame retardant labels for a variety of interior applications. The information on the labels can be safety alerts (airbags, seat belts, etc.), instructions (tire pressure, tire removal, jacking, etc.) or identification (ID, VIN, etc.). The label materials must be impervious to the  array of harsh fluids and chemicals typical to motor vehicles and have durable top coats that can be either thermal transfer printed or laser ablated.

Polyonics Solutions

Polyonics manufactures a family of GMW 14573 tested label materials that addresses the key automotive under-the-hood labeling  requirements. The materials include low cost thermal transfer printable polyester (PET) high temper­ature polyimide (PI) and ultra-high temperature aluminum (AL). Laser markable PI and AL are available for applications too harsh for ink. UL94 VTM0 recognized and FMSVSS 302 tested flame retardant PI and PET label materials are also available.

Polyonics Introduces FMVSS 302 Flame Retardant Label Materials
Polyonics introduces a family of flame retardant materials that helps prevent the propagation of fire in automotive under-the-hood and interior labeling applications. The thermal transfer and flexographic printable materials are UL94 VTM-0 rated, third party tested to the FMVSS 302 burn standard and provide low smoke and toxicity per BSS 7238/7239.
